Avery is, tragically, the victim of non-consensual time travel. Just as he begins to adjust to a given time period, the faces and lingo becoming familiar at last, he's thrust into another time and place entirely. Who, or what, could possibly be responsible for this phenomenon? Surely it could only be the work of a madman.
Still, oblivious as he is, he keeps his chin up and does his best. Maybe, someday, he'll break the cycle yet...
