When a rift in time and space opened up, some genius decided to extract the jet-black fluid it was leaking and make a painting out of it. Diego was born from this hubris, and it kind of shows.

Having ascended in power to something resembling an especially capricious deity, Diego is capable of entering and exiting universes through the frame of any painting. Additionally, he can inhabit any 2d depiction of himself. He mostly uses these abilities to spy on everything in the multiverse, only deigning to interact with especially interesting situations or individuals.

His colorful exterior is merely an extremely thin coating of paint. As such, he's quite flammable, though even if he's burnt away into nothingness in one timeline, this doesn't seem to inconvenience him much.

If he gets bored enough with a particular universe, he unmakes it, taking himself down with it. But something resembling him always pops up again anyway, eventually...
